London Road is the main A6 and the Unit is prominently and conveniently located approximately half a mile south of Leicester Main Line Rail Terminus with the City Centre just beyond. Main bus routes use the A6 with stops close by.

Importantly, excellent onsite parking is provided.

While the Unit presents an impressive victorian frontage, the building was enlarged and developed some years ago to serve as a private hospital. Consequently, the extensions added, are generously proportioned with rooms for 33 residents that are serviced by wide corridors.

In addition, as described on the following pages there is an abundance of recreational space, plus Physiotherapy/Gym facilities.

The views, in the picture gallery, are of the House, principle car park, gardens, conservatory, Kitchen, corridors and bedrooms. We constantly look for ways to upgrade and improve the services and facilities we offer. For example we have recently undertaken a complete refurbishment of all assisted bathrooms, installing the most up to date fittings and equipment and upgrading, at the same time, our wet room arrangements. A situation that helps facilitate the safety and ease of care for both our long and short stay residents.

Specialist Nursing Care

The Unit is Nurse led by highly skilled and experienced nurses. We provide a high standard of care to residents across the age range, from 18 years onwards, for both male and female patients.

As the name suggests, we provide care for patients with genetic or acquired brain injury, but also for other degenerative diseases including:.
  • Motor Neurone disease
  • Huntingtons disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Stroke complications
  • longterm chronic respirator dependent adults
  • Cardiac conditions and palliative care
Palliative care and end of life management are done with sensitivity and compassion and follows the wishes of the resident, includes their family and is available for any condition.

The nursing team are experienced in the management of P.E.G. feeding lines, pain management and invasive and non-invasive ventilation.

Local partnership with the ventilation consultant nurse enables proactive care planning, optimisation of quality of life, independence and dignity.

A privately contracted G.P., enables continuity of care, advice to our residents and greatly reduces the need for emergency admissions to the acute units. All staff receive ongoing and refresher training to maintain our high standards of care.

Fully equipped gymnasiums and our own physiotherapist enables clients to maintain/improve their mobility and helps reduce pain from unused limbs. Dieticians and speech and language therapists visit as needed. Dentists and Opticians visit on a regular basis.

Short and long term places are available, including respite, convalescence, weekend or night placements.

Full assessments are carried out prior to placements, to ensure that all needs can be met. Clients and their families are encouraged to visit to ensure that they are happy with the accommodation and the provision of care.

Additional services available are:
  • Aromatherapy
  • Hair dressing
  • Chiropody
  • Daily newspaper
  • Telephone, and in Unit 2, broadband internet connection in all rooms.
We undertake placement of student nurses from Leicester University Medical School. This not only ensures that we keep up to date for our yearly educational audit to pass the grade, but also has additional benefits for our residents.

We also, for a number of years, have held contracts with both Leicester and Northampton PCT's to provide specialist care on an ongoing basis to a number of residents.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of our care provision or facilities, please do not hesitate to contact us. Telephone numbers, addresses and email are available on the 'Contact Us' page.
